One of the largest charnel houses of Germany is located in the "Michaelskapelle" Chapel in Oppenheim, Rheinlandpfalz. The Ossuary was probably build between the 14th and 15th century and houses the remains of about 15.000 - 20.000 citizens of Oppenheim, reburied in the period between 1400 - 1750.
